Traditionally, ingredients are soaked in alchohol for a long time to age. This is a quick recipe. This is perfect for the times when you need a fruit cake made at a short notice. Boiling kind of simulates the soaking and aging process.. Would like to know why you have boiled all the ingredients and does the brown sugar give the cake it's lovely colour?<br /><br />The cake looks insanely irresistible and I love the use of the spices.
