Falooda / Faluda

Falooda / Faluda is a cold dessert / drink popular in the Indian sub continent. Traditionally it is prepared by mixing rose syrup, cooked vermicelli (falooda sev), soaked basil seeds/ tukhmaria/sabja, jelly pieces with some lightly sweetened milk. I have adopted a layer approach and layered the different ingredients (nuts, rose syrup, soaked basil seeds, noodles, jelly pieces and milk) and finally topped with a scoop of ice cream:) It  is perfect during hot summer days:)

Bhel Puri

Sometime back, I was going through the different recipes on my blog..It is then I realized I have not posted not even a single chaat recipe. I love "chaats" and I make them all the time but some how never got around to posting a recipe in the blog. "Chaat" is a term describing savory snacks that are served at road-side tracks from stalls or food carts. It is very popular in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Many of the popular chaat recipes are now being served in big restaurants too. But personally , I feel these dishes are best when eaten from a street joint. It makes for a great experience:)

Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji is a popular street food/ fast food that originated in Mumbai. "Pav" is nothing but small bread rolls while "bhaji" is a mixed vegetable dish. It is a well spiced dish with  smoothly mashed mixed vegetables and a good amount of ripe tomatoes. The bhaji is served with a dollop of butter along with a buttered and toasted bread roll .
